CarFax Most folks think that a clean CarFax means that the car has never been in an accident, but this is not entirely true. A CarFax will only show what has been reported, usually to an insurance company. If a vehicle has been in an accident and the owner paid cash for repairs or had a friend's uncle who used to work at a body shop, fix the vehicle in his driveway... The odds are very good that CarFax will be unaware of the fact that the frame of the crashed vehicle was straightened by chaining the frame to a Mighty Oak and tugging the vehicle in the opposite direction with the retired body-mans yard truck until the replacement fender finally fit... kinda. I think you get the idea :)
Low Miles It can be very exciting to find a used vehicle with super low miles. But in reality, unless the vehicle was meticulously cared for, low miles can be worse than high miles.
Low mile vehicles tend to sit a lot, which in our area can lead to lots of rust. They might look great on the outside, and the interiors are usually spotless, but the underside is often another story. Low miles also means most of the major maintenance items have not been performed yet, so you will most likely be taking care of things like the timing belt, a tune-up, brakes, tires and fluid services... just something to keep in mind.
